When Mike Glavin retired from the wine label printing industry in June of 2004, his dream for retirement was to be able to take off on RV trips at a moment’s notice. Three days after his last day, Mike and his wife, Mimi left on a two-month trip. Two weeks into the vacation, Mike said to himself...well, let's just say that the freedom of retirement wasn't all that he'd imagined. He missed interacting with people and problem-solving and realized that he was not truly ready to retire. He needed the excitement and gratification that business had to offer, not the solace of the rocking chair outside of his RV! Hence, the whole trip was spent brainstorming business ideas.
Mike had already researched the idea of mobile wine bottling prior to retirement and liked the idea of staying connected with the wine industry. While they were driving on a long stretch of highway between California and Washington, the name 'Top It Off’ came to them out of the blue. Top It Off Bottling became a reality at that very moment.
The inception of the business included determining the best location, finding the best people and building the best equipment possible. What better location could there be to start a mobile bottling company than Northern California? thought Mike. After asking around the Napa-Sonoma area, Mike quickly found out that Rick Lewis of Sonoma was viewed as one of the top mobile bottlers around. Rick eventually joined Top It Off Bottling in early 2005 and began building its first mobile bottling trailer. It was ready to go just in time for the first bottling job on May 1st. In January of 2006 Randy Ramos, a long-time friend and co-worker of Mike's, joined the TIOB team to help with the sales effort. In less than a year, Top It Off now boasts six employees, a new machine shop/office, and a number of custom services.
During its first year of operation, Top It Off Bottling managed to exceed all expectations. “We have the support from our customers to thank for that!” says Mike, “and a team that I consider to be the best of the best.”
We consider the Top It Off Team to be the best of the best. Made up of reliable and innovative professionals who intimately know the mechanics of bottling line equipment and the processes of bottling.

Mike Glavin
President
Mike Glavin brings more than three decades of operational and management experience in the printing industry to the Top It Off Bottling team. As a partner in the ownership of Blake Printery and President of WS Packaging Group in San Luis Obispo, Mike was instrumental in positioning the company as a leader in the wine label industry. Known for his integrity and exceptional leadership skills, Mike is well-respected in both the wine industry and general business community. His business dealings are simply put: “I believe that you develop a good reputation by doing what you say you’re going to do.”
Upon retirement at age 54, Mike decided he’d like to try something new. The mobile wine bottling business sounded like a good fit for a guy with an affinity for wineries and wine labeling – topped off with a love of wine! His thorough knowledge of wine label production, combined with a rare blending of marketing and operational expertise, adds a new dimension to the mobile wine bottling business.
“One of the most important values to me is building a solid team,” says Mike. “I’m motivated by watching people grow.” Mike is also motivated by competition and the challenge of growing a company from the bottom up. His commitment and dedication to both Top It Off Bottling employees and customers is evidenced by TIOB’s rapid and continued growth.
In his spare time, Mike enjoys a game of golf now and then (he says more then than now it seems!). Though competitive, Mike’s lighthearted sense of humor is evident in both work and play.
Randy Ramos
Vice President
A graduate of Cal Poly San Luis Obispo, Randy worked for Blake Printery and W/S Packaging for 32 years before joining Top It Off Bottling in January, 2006. Loyalty and dedication are qualities that Randy brings to TIOB, as well as a top-notch level of expertise in the wine label industry. While his work experience primarily focuses on sales and sales management, it also includes customer service, estimating, scheduling and expediting.
“I’m a very can-do, positive person,” Randy says, which is exemplified by his reputation for doing whatever it takes to make the customers happy. In addition, those who have worked with Randy know that he’s a team player with an upbeat attitude. Out of 100 salespeople nationally, Randy gleaned the first “Team Player of the Year” award while at W/S Packaging.
Randy became a part of the TIOB team primarily because he felt that he needed a jump start after being in the printing business for over three decades. “I look forward to the challenges of taking this opportunity and growing it to its optimum potential,” Randy says.
Known for his attention to detail, Randy feels that he thrives in the atmosphere of a small company where he can use his creative and organizational skills to solve problems quickly.
Archery and waterskiing are two of Randy’s favorite activities outside of work. The father of two grown children, Randy resides in Sonoma County with his partner, Bonnie.
